his West Ashley townhouse project started small. The homeowner wanted a paver patio for a tight backyard space. By the time we finished, we'd installed over 1,500 square feet of LCP Charleston Pearl pavers across a patio, walkway, steps, landings, a driveway apron, and a doubled paver driveway. What began as one project turned into four.
How the Project Grew
We started with the patio. Once the homeowner saw it finished, he wanted a walkway to connect it to the rest of the yard. That led to an apron off the existing driveway. Then he decided to go all in and had us double the driveway itself. By the end, we'd paved nearly the entire small yard space on the property.

The Material

The Challenge
Working in stages on an occupied townhouse lot means planning around existing hardscape, drainage, and a small footprint with no room for error. West Ashley lots like this one often have tight side yards and shared property lines, so every walkway and step had to line up with what was already there and what might come next.
We also had to account for the usual Lowcountry conditions: sandy and clay soils, heavy summer rain, and a high water table. A driveway apron and doubled driveway both need proper base prep and grading so water moves off the surface instead of pooling near the foundation or garage.
The Finished Result
The property now has a paver driveway, apron, walkway, steps, landings, and patio, all tied together with the same Charleston Pearl paver. What started as a single patio request turned into a full exterior hardscape package covering most of the usable yard.
